Groundwater extraction in India is regulated under guidelines issued by the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) and respective State Ground Water Authorities. Industries, infrastructure and Mining projects that abstract groundwater are required to obtain a valid Groundwater No Objection Certificate (NOC) and adhere to the conditions specified therein.
